For UAE residence and visit entry permits, the ICP services guide asks for a recent personal photo, size 4 × 6 cm, with a white background. This page crops your picture to 40 × 60 mm and lays out a print sheet. It is an unofficial tool and not part of ICP or any UAE authority.

What ICP asks for

ICP’s Services Guide 2024 lists, for many residence and visit entry permit services for foreigners, “A recent personal photo with a white background, size 6/4”, that is 4 × 6 cm. ICP’s FAQ also asks for a coloured personal photo with a white background, with no hats or sunglasses; medical glasses are allowed only if they don’t cover the eyes.

Citizen services such as an Emirati passport use a different size (3.5 × 4.5 cm in the same guide). Some websites quote 43 × 55 mm for UAE visas, but we didn’t find that size in ICP’s official documents. Always follow the instructions for the exact service you apply for.

How to make the photo

  1. Take the picture against a plain white wall in even light, looking straight at the camera with no hat or sunglasses.
  2. Add it above. Photo size is already set to UAE visa (4 × 6 cm).
  3. Drag the frame so your face is centred, then click Use this crop.
  4. Download the photo, the 4 × 6 in print sheet, or both.

If your background isn’t white

Retaking the photo against a white wall gives the best result. If you can’t, set Background to White in the settings. It runs on your device, but the first use downloads about 30 MB.

Uploading through an app or typing centre

Many applications are made online or through a typing centre, and the upload screen may set its own file size or pixel limits. We didn’t find an official upload limit from ICP. If the screen shows one, set it under File size limit, or use our Compress image tool.

Can it change the background to white?

Yes. Set Background to White or Light blue. It works best on a head-and-shoulders photo; some official forms still ask for an unedited photo, so check the rules.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Take or pick a photo right on your phone; nothing is uploaded.

Is this an official UAE government tool?

Is the UAE visa photo 43 × 55 mm?

Dubai residence services are handled by GDRFA Dubai, which may have its own instructions. Check the official page for your service before you print.
