No Urdu keyboard needed.
Press b for ب, k for ک and Shift + t for ٹ. The on-screen keys show every letter, and your text is kept in this browser until you clear it.
Type Urdu online with any keyboard. This phonetic Urdu keyboard maps each English key to the Urdu letter that sounds like it, so b types ب, s types س and k types ک, and Shift gives the extra letters. It works on computers and phones, and an on-screen keyboard shows every letter.
The key layout
- Letters: a ا, b ب, p پ, t ت, j ج, c چ, d د, r ر, z ز, x ش, s س, f ف, q ق, k ک, g گ, l ل, m م, n ن, w و, o ہ, h ھ, i ی, y ے, e ع, v ط, u ء.
- With Shift: T ٹ, D ڈ, R ڑ, N ں, A آ, K خ, G غ, H ح, J ض, S ص, Z ذ, C ث, V ظ, X ژ, W ؤ, U ئ, Y ۓ, L ۂ, O ۃ.
- Marks with Shift: B zabar (َ), I zer (ِ), P pesh (ُ), F shadd (ّ), M do-zabar (ً), E khari zabar (ٰ), Q jazm (ْ).
- Punctuation and digits: . gives ۔, , gives ،, ? gives ؟ and number keys give Urdu digits (۱۲۳).
Switching between Urdu and English
Press Ctrl + Space or Esc, or untick Urdu keyboard on, to type English in the same box. Press it again to return to Urdu.
On a phone
Type with your phone’s normal English keyboard and the letters turn into Urdu, or tap the Urdu keys under the box. If your phone keyboard suggests or autocorrects English words, turn suggestions off for this page, or use the on-screen keys.
Your text stays with you
What you type is kept in this browser, so it’s still there after a reload, and is never uploaded. Copy it, download it as a .txt file, or press Clear when you’re done.

How do I type ٹ, ڈ and ڑ?
Hold Shift and press t, d or r. Turn on Show Shift letters to see every Shift letter on the on-screen keyboard.

Is my text saved?

Can I type Roman Urdu instead?
Yes, with Roman Urdu to Urdu: type whole words in English letters and they turn into Urdu words.
