Under 30 KB with room to spare.
We save your photo as a JPG under 20 KB, safely inside FPSC’s 30 KB limit, with the best quality that fits.
The Federal Public Service Commission’s online application asks for a recent passport-size picture in JPG or JPEG format, smaller than 30 KB. This page compresses your photo to fit. Treeet is an unofficial tool and has no connection with FPSC.
What FPSC asks for
FPSC’s Guidelines for Online Application Submission, in the version updated on 9 September 2025, say to upload a recent passport-size picture in JPG or JPEG format with a size of less than 30 KB, and to avoid informal pictures. The guidelines don’t give a size in pixels, so the KB limit is the rule that matters.
Always check the current guidelines on fpsc.gov.pk and the advertisement for your post before applying. The commission can change these rules, and a specific advertisement may add its own.
Why we aim for 20 KB
The tool is set to “Under 20 KB” rather than “Under 30 KB”. Some websites count a kilobyte as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024, so a file sitting right at the edge can be rejected by one and accepted by the other. Aiming lower leaves a safe margin.
If you want a bit more detail, change Target size to “Under 30 KB”. That file stays under the limit if the portal counts 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, but it leaves less room for error. For a head-and-shoulders portrait, the difference between 20 and 30 KB is hard to see on screen.
Steps
- Start with a recent, formal photo: plain light background, face straight to the camera, even light. A studio passport photo or a clear phone photo both work.
- If the picture shows much more than your head and shoulders, crop it first with our Passport photo maker or Crop image tool so your face fills most of the frame.
- Add the photo above. Target size is already set to under 20 KB.
- Download the JPG and confirm its size: file details on Android, Properties on Windows, or Get Info on a Mac.
- Upload it in the picture field of the FPSC online application.
How the compression works
We try a high JPG quality first and step down until the file fits. If quality alone isn’t enough, we also scale the picture down in pixels. A passport-style portrait at 20 KB stays clear enough to recognize a face on screen, which is what the picture is for.
Photos with a plain background compress much better than photos with a busy room behind you. A clean background gets you a sharper result at the same file size, so it’s worth taking the picture against a plain wall.
Common mistakes
- Uploading a full-length or group photo instead of a head-and-shoulders picture.
- Using a casual selfie with filters. FPSC asks you to avoid informal pictures.
- Saving as PNG or HEIC. Our tool always outputs JPG, the format FPSC asks for.
- Leaving it to the last day, when a rejected upload leaves no time to fix it.
Privacy
Your photo is processed by your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to Treeet, which matters when the same picture sits next to your CNIC number on a government form.

Questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device.
Will it look blurry?
Only at very small sizes like 10–20 KB. Above 50 KB photos usually look the same.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Take or pick a photo right on your phone; nothing is uploaded.
Is this the FPSC website?
No. Treeet is an independent, unofficial tool. Apply only through the official FPSC website.
Does FPSC require a pixel size?
The guidelines we checked give only the format (JPG or JPEG) and the limit (less than 30 KB). If your advertisement adds a pixel size, set it first with our Resize image tool, then compress here.
Can I use this for the CSS application too?
Check the CSS instructions first. If they also ask for a JPG under 30 KB, the same file will work.
