How to use Merge PDF
- 01Add PDFsTwo or more files.
- 02Set the orderMove files up or down.
- 03MergeDownload one PDF.

One file, every page.
Drag files up or down to set the order. Bookmarks and links inside each PDF are kept where possible.
Merge PDF joins two or more PDF files into one document, in the order you choose. It’s free and runs entirely in your browser, so your files are never uploaded to a server.
How to merge PDF files
- Click Choose PDFs, or drop two or more PDF files anywhere on the page. You can add more later the same way.
- Check the order. The file at the top of the list becomes the first pages of the merged document. Use the up and down arrows next to a file to move it, or the × to remove it.
- Press Merge PDFs. Merging happens on your device and usually takes a few seconds.
- Press Download to save the combined file. It’s named after the first file in the list, with “-merged” added.
- Want a different order? Move the files and press the button again. The new result replaces the old one.
What the merged PDF keeps
Pages are copied, not re-printed, so nothing is converted into pictures along the way. Text stays selectable and searchable, and images keep their original quality.
- Every page of every file, at its original size and rotation. A4 and US Letter pages can sit side by side without being resized.
- Bookmarks from each file, one set after another.
- Links that jump between pages inside a document.
- Form fields on the merged pages.
Common problems and fixes
- “Password-protected” message: one of the files needs a password to open. Run it through Unlock PDF first (you’ll need the password), then add the unlocked copy.
- Files that only block printing or copying open without a password, and the merged copy doesn’t carry those limits over.
- “Isn’t a valid PDF, or it is damaged”: the file is broken or isn’t really a PDF. Try opening it in another app and saving or printing it to a new PDF.
- The Merge PDFs button stays gray: you need at least two PDFs in the list.
- You want to add photos too: this tool only takes PDFs. Turn the photos into a PDF with Image to PDF, then merge that file with the others.
- The merged file is too big to email: merging doesn’t shrink anything. Run the result through Compress PDF.
Before you merge
- Turn sideways pages the right way with Rotate PDF. Rotation is kept when the files are merged.
- Remove blank or unwanted pages with Delete PDF pages, so you don’t have to fix the merged file later.
- Very large scans? Merge first and compress once at the end; it’s quicker than compressing every file.
- Make sure every file opens. A file that needs a password stops the merge until it’s unlocked.
Tips
- Files are listed in the order your device hands them over, which isn’t always the order you expect. Glance at the list before you press Merge PDFs.
- Only need part of a file? Merge first, then use Delete PDF pages or Extract PDF pages on the result.
- Add page numbers after merging so the numbering runs straight through the whole document.
- The merged file doesn’t copy the title or author from the originals.
Privacy
Your PDFs are read and joined by JavaScript running in your browser. They are not sent to Treeet or anyone else, and closing the tab clears them from memory.

Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your PDF never leaves your device.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit. Hundreds of pages merge in seconds on a computer.
Is there a size limit?
Only your device’s memory. Even long PDFs take seconds on a computer.
Does merging PDFs reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, so text, images and vector graphics look exactly like the originals.
Can I reorder pages inside one PDF?
Not with Merge PDF, which keeps each file’s pages in their original order. Extract PDF pages saves pages in the order you type them, for example 3, 1, 2.
Are bookmarks and links kept?
Yes. Bookmarks from each file and links between pages come along wherever the pages they point to are in the merged file.
Can I merge PDFs on my phone?
Yes. It works in mobile browsers. Pick the files from your phone’s storage, set the order and download the result.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Only after removing the password. Use Unlock PDF with the password you know, then merge the unlocked copy.
Can I undo a merge?
Your original files aren’t changed. To pull pages back out of a merged PDF, use Split PDF with custom ranges.
