Pick a Gregorian date to see it in Hijri, or a Hijri date to see it in Gregorian, with the day of the week. The tool uses the Umm al-Qura calendar.
Convert any date between the Hijri (Islamic) and Gregorian calendars, both ways, with the day of the week. The converter uses the Umm al-Qura calendar, Saudi Arabia’s official calendar, which modern browsers include, so it works offline once the page has loaded.
How to use it
- To convert a Gregorian date, pick it in the first box. The Hijri date appears with the weekday.
- To convert a Hijri date, type the year, choose the month and type the day. The Gregorian date appears below, also in ISO form (YYYY-MM-DD).
- Both boxes start with today’s date.
Umm al-Qura and moon sighting
Umm al-Qura is a calculated calendar used for official business in Saudi Arabia. Religious occasions such as the start of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are confirmed by sighting the new moon, so they can fall a day earlier or later than the calculated date. Some countries also use their own calculations.
Months with 29 or 30 days
Hijri months have 29 or 30 days, depending on the moon. If you type the 30th of a month that has only 29 days that year, the converter tells you instead of guessing.
