Fit your face in the guide and we crop to 3.5 × 4.5 cm, then save a JPG capped at 50 KB that normally lands above the 20 KB minimum.

IBPS applications ask for a passport-style color photo between 20 and 50 KB, and the system won’t let you move on until the photo meets the specification. This page crops your picture to the 3.5 × 4.5 cm passport shape and saves it under 50 KB. It is an unofficial tool, not connected with IBPS.

What IBPS notices ask for

We checked the scanning and upload guidelines in a current IBPS advertisement on ibps.in (October 2026). They ask for the following:

  • Size: 4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, a recent passport-style color picture.
  • Background: light-colored, preferably white.
  • Face: looking straight at the camera with a relaxed face.
  • No caps, hats or dark glasses. Religious headwear is allowed if it doesn’t cover the face.
  • Glasses, if worn, must not reflect light, and your eyes must be clearly visible.
  • Dimensions: 200 × 230 pixels preferred.
  • File size: between 20 KB and 50 KB.

A live photo as well

The same guidelines say that, in addition to the uploaded photo, you’ll capture a live photo through your webcam or phone during the application. Use a light, preferably white background and good light for both, and make sure they look like the same person on the same day.

Specific exams (PO, Clerk, RRB, SO) publish their own notices. Read the one for your exam, as details can differ and change between years.

Why we don’t use 200 × 230 pixels

The notice calls 200 × 230 pixels “preferred”, but the file must also be at least 20 KB. A portrait that small often comes out below 20 KB, which the form may reject. We instead save at 413 × 531 pixels, which is 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI, and cap the file at 50 KB. That normally lands between 20 and 50 KB.

If your form insists on exactly 200 × 230 pixels, use our Resize image tool with those numbers and check that the file is still at least 20 KB.

Steps

  1. Take a photo against a plain white or light wall, in even light, without a cap or dark glasses.
  2. Add it above. The size is set to 35 × 45 mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm) and the limit to under 50 KB.
  3. Drag and zoom so your face and the top of your shoulders sit inside the guide.
  4. Download the JPG and check that it’s between 20 and 50 KB.
  5. Upload it in the photograph field of your IBPS application.

If the file is under 20 KB

This is unusual at 413 × 531 pixels, because we keep the highest quality that fits under 50 KB. It can happen with a very dark, blurry or low-contrast photo, which has little detail to store. Retake the picture in brighter, even light with your face in sharp focus, then run it through again.

Taking a good photo at home

Stand about a meter in front of a plain white wall, facing a window so daylight falls evenly on your face. Ask someone to hold the phone at your eye level instead of taking a selfie. Wear clothes that contrast with the white wall, keep your hair away from your eyes, and take several shots so you can pick the sharpest one.

The other uploads

IBPS forms also ask for a signature (10 to 20 KB), a left thumb impression and a handwritten declaration. Our IBPS signature size and IBPS handwritten declaration pages are set up for those.

Questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo never leaves your device.

Can it change the background to white?

Not yet. Take the photo against a plain light wall for the best result.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Take or pick a photo right on your phone; nothing is uploaded.

Is this an IBPS website?

No. Treeet is an independent, unofficial tool. Apply only through ibps.in.

Can I wear glasses?

The guidelines we checked allow glasses as long as there are no reflections and your eyes are clearly visible. Dark glasses are not allowed.

Can I use the same photo for SBI or RBI forms?

Often the limits are similar, but each bank publishes its own notice. Check its photo size and KB range first.
