What’s Mermaid?
Diagrams written as text: flowcharts, sequence diagrams, Gantt charts and more. GitHub and many docs tools draw them.
Turn Mermaid diagram code into a PNG image you can paste into chat, email, slides or a document. Flowcharts, sequence diagrams, Gantt charts and the other Mermaid types are drawn in your browser, at up to 4× resolution, on a white or transparent background.
What to add
- A .mmd or .mermaid file with the diagram text.
- A Markdown (.md) file: the first ```mermaid block in it is used.
- A .txt file with the diagram text.
Settings
- Scale: 1× for screens, 2× for sharp text on phones and high-resolution displays, 4× for print. Very large diagrams are capped so the picture stays under 16,000 pixels on a side.
- Background: white, or transparent to place the diagram on a coloured slide. With the Dark theme, the background is dark unless you choose transparent.
- Theme: Default, Neutral (black and white), Forest or Dark.
If you get a syntax error
The message shows where Mermaid stopped reading. Check that the first line names the diagram type (for example flowchart LR), that every bracket closes, and that labels with brackets or symbols are in quotes.

Questions
Are my files uploaded?
Never. Mermaid to PNG conversion runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device.
Can I convert many at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and download them all as one ZIP.
Is there a size limit?
Files of tens of megabytes are fine on most computers.
Why is my PNG blurry?
Choose a higher Scale. 2× is sharp on most screens; use 4× for printing.
Should I use PNG or SVG?
PNG works everywhere pictures do. SVG stays sharp at any size and is better for documents and websites; use Mermaid to SVG for that.
Is my diagram uploaded?
No. It is drawn in your browser.
