What’s TOON?
Token-Oriented Object Notation: JSON data written compactly for AI prompts, with lists of objects as tables.
Convert a TOON (Token-Oriented Object Notation) file back to standard JSON, for example to use a model’s TOON answer in code, an API or a spreadsheet tool. It runs in your browser and checks the file as it reads it.
What gets checked
The reader is strict: if a table says users[3] but only two rows follow, or a row has the wrong number of values, you get an error naming the line, instead of quietly wrong JSON. Fix the line, or ask the model to answer again, and convert once more.
Output
Choose 2 or 4 spaces of indentation for readable JSON, or Minified for the smallest file. Numbers, true, false and null come out as JSON values, and quoted text stays text.
Tips for TOON from an AI model
- Copy only the TOON block. Text before or after it, such as “Here is your data:”, isn’t TOON and will cause an error.
- Save it as a .toon or .txt file and add it above.
- If the model changed the row count without updating the [N] in the header, fix the number or ask the model to correct it.

Questions
Are my files uploaded?
Never. TOON to JSON conversion runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device.
Can I convert many at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like and download them all as one ZIP.
Is there a size limit?
Files of tens of megabytes are fine on most computers.
Why does it say the TOON isn’t valid?
Usually a row count in [N] doesn’t match the rows below it, a row has too many or too few values, or the indentation is off. The error names the line to check.
Can I convert JSON back to TOON?
Yes. Use JSON to TOON.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
