What’s PDF?

A fixed-layout document that looks the same everywhere, but is hard to edit.

PDF to JPG saves every page of a PDF, or just the pages you pick, as a JPG image. It’s free and runs in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.

How to convert PDF to JPG

  1. Set the resolution, quality and pages in the settings panel. By default every page is saved at 150 dpi and 85% quality.
  2. Choose your PDF or drop it on the page. Conversion starts right away.
  3. Each page becomes its own JPG, named after the file plus the page number, such as report-1.jpg.
  4. Press Save next to the file, or Download all (.zip), to get every image in one ZIP.
  5. Changed a setting afterwards? Press Apply to all files to convert again.

What the settings do

  • Resolution: 72 dpi (screen) for small previews, 150 dpi for sharing and on-screen reading, 300 dpi (print) for printing or zooming in. An A4 page comes out about 1240 × 1754 pixels at 150 dpi and 2480 × 3508 pixels at 300 dpi; a US Letter page is 1275 × 1650 and 2550 × 3300.
  • Quality: 40 to 100%. Higher means sharper detail and bigger files. 85% is a good balance; go higher for text-heavy pages you’ll zoom into.
  • Pages: leave empty for all pages, or type pages like 1-3, 5. “8-” means page 8 to the end.

How it works

Each page is drawn the way a PDF viewer shows it, text, drawings and pictures together, and saved as a picture. It doesn’t pull out the original photos embedded in the PDF; you get images of whole pages.

Because the result is a picture, text in the JPG can’t be selected or edited. That’s handy when you need a page to post on social media, drop into a slide, attach to a form that only takes images, or send to someone who can’t open PDFs.

Common problems and fixes

  • Small text looks fuzzy: choose 300 dpi and a quality of 90% or more.
  • The images are too big for a form: choose 72 or 150 dpi, lower the quality, or shrink the result with Compress image.
  • You need transparent or lossless images: use PDF to PNG instead.
  • “Password-protected” message: remove the password with Unlock PDF first.
  • A long PDF takes a while at 300 dpi: convert only the pages you need with the Pages box.

Tips

  • Need one page as a picture for a slide or social post? Type its number in Pages.
  • Pages that open sideways come out sideways. Fix them with Rotate PDF first.
  • Scanned PDFs work the same way, since every page is rendered as it looks.
  • For thumbnails or quick previews, 72 dpi is plenty and keeps files tiny.
  • To turn the images back into a single document later, use JPG to PDF.

Questions

Are my files uploaded?

Never. PDF to JPG conversion runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device.

Can I convert many at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like and download them all as one ZIP.

Is there a size limit?

Only your device’s memory. Even long PDFs take seconds on a computer.

How do I convert just one page of a PDF to JPG?

Type the page number in the Pages box, for example 4, before adding the PDF. Only that page is saved.

What resolution should I choose?

150 dpi suits screens and sharing. Choose 300 dpi for printing or when you need to zoom into small text.

Can I extract the original images from a PDF?

No. This tool saves pictures of whole pages, not the separate images inside the PDF.

Should I choose JPG or PNG?

JPG gives much smaller files and suits most pages. PNG is lossless and better for crisp line art, but files are larger.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Every page is drawn as it looks, whether it holds real text or a scanned picture.

Why is a JPG bigger than the PDF page was?

PDFs store text very compactly, while a JPG stores every pixel. Lower the resolution or quality for smaller images.
